Pokemon Vortex official chat can be located at http://pokemonvortex.org/chat/ Or http://forums.pokemo...php?app=ircChat
For mIRC or Mibbit users, the connection details are:
Server: irc.lucidchat.net
Port: 6667
Channels:
#Pokemon_Vortex (For general chat), #Vortex_Trade (For trading), #Vortex_Trivia (For trivial fun), #vortex_uno (to play uno)

Or for the mibbit direct link, click here.

The java chat linked to the site asks for permissions to start up.
Click no if you get this box.

If you for some reason get kicked from one of these channels just type /j #Pokemon_Vortex or /j #Vortex_Trivia
This will reconnect you unless you were banned. (Do not ask to be unbanned as all bans have a time lift)

It is preferred for you to use your in game name but not essential.
To change your nickname use the 'Change nick to' box located in the bottom right corner.

For mIRC or Mibbit users type /nick <desired user name>

To register your nickname to prevent other people using it type /ns register <new password> <your email>
You will be sent a confirmation email on how to verify this process.
Once you've fully set up a username, each time you use it you will be asked to confirm it's yours.
Just type /ns identify <password>

All rules for the chat can be located here: http://forums.pokemonvortex.com/index.php?showtopic=2117

Using the chat.

The chat has 6 moderators.
  • ~ Rob
  • ~ Patrick
  • ~ Dean
  • & Enchantress
  • @ Chris
  • @ Blazi
  • @ Lawrence

If anyone else claims to be a moderator they are lying.
The easiest way to tell who is a moderator and who isn't, is the symbol next to their names.
This determines the rank of the Moderator they are
  • ~ Means they are Channel owners.
  • & Means they are Admins.
  • @ Means they are Operators (Mods/Ops).
  • % Means they are Half Operators. (Usually a mod learning to become a full Operator).
  • + Means they are Voices. (These are usually to help people with problems they have involving Pokemon Vortex).

There are 4 bots on Vortex chat.
The first is DarkBot.
This is just to hold certain commands used by moderators.
The second is VBATrivia.
To start the trivia just type !trivia at any time in #Vortex_Trivia. !strivia, which stops the trivia, is now limited to halfops or higher. Trivia will automatically stop if no one answers for 5 questions.
The third is VBABot.
VBAHelp is only there to help, nothing else. It has special commands that link you to guides, give useful info, etc. At any time you want automated help just type ~help in #Pokemon_Vortex. If our automated services do not solve your problem type ~bell to get ahold of our moderators.
The fourth is UnoServ
UnoServ is on the #Vortex_Uno channel only and runs the Uno game while storing all the scores. It is also a moderating bot that can kick and ban you from the channel.

If you abuse this power or any of the Moderators you will be kicked or banned from the chat depending on the severity.

mIRC
(Just a bit of help for wannabe/mIRC users).

First off, what is mIRC?

"mIRC is a popular Internet Relay Chat client used by millions of people, and thousands of organizations, to communicate, share, play and work with each other on IRC networks around the world." - mIRC.com

Most of the VBA community uses Mibbit, as it's our main chat client, some of you may also use Java through the forums. If you want a better chatting experience, it is my own personal suggestion that you give mIRC a try. In this guide, I will walk you through your mIRC set up.

Before you do anything, you need to download the chat client. You can go to http://mirc.com/ if you feel like reading more into it, or you can head straight for the download http://mirc.com/get.php (It's safe and free). System requirements for the latest versions are, Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7. If you're running an older operating system, Windows 95/95/ME/NT, you can download an older version of mIRC here. The older version is not being updated anymore.

Now that you have mIRC downloaded, open it up. The client should look something like this: http://i53.tinypic.com/29fdt2q.png

Next, we're going to adjust some settings to make your mIRC experience a little more comfortable. Click on the options button Posted Image, in the upper left corner and adjust your settings. Just adjust your settings according to the images.

One of the greater things of mIRC is that you can create/add scripts that make some things in IRC a little easier. For example, I'll be showing you how to set up an auto identifier (You can use it if you want). Alt + R to open your remotes.

http://oi55.tinypic.com/o6lhk6.jpg

on 1:notice:*nickserv identify*:?: { if ($nick == nickserv) { nickserv identify passwordhere } }

Paste that script into your remotes and make sure to fill in your password, marked in bold.

The only thing left to do, is to connect to the server Vortex Battle Arena's chat room is located on. The command is pretty simple, just type,

/server irc.lucidchat.net

then to join VBA's channels type,

/join #Pokemon_Vortex,#Vortex_Trade,#Vortex_Trivia,#Vortex_uno

That's all for your simple setup. If you plan to keep using mIRC, I would suggest adding VBA's channels to your auto join. Make sure you're in the channel, then click Favorites, Add to Favorites and make sure you have "Join on Connect" selected.
